This Harvard Business Review Ideacast audio is an interview with NYU professor Pankaj Ghemawat who discussed the misconceptions about Globalization. While he claims that he is not making a political point, the word LABOR is never mentioned in his discussion and statistics. He separates global movement of manufactured goods and immigration but never talked about outsourced labor - interesting analysis but ignores the globalization of labor.Click on this link for the audio…See More

Is it Morning Again in the Midwest? "New businesses are breathing life into some of America’s old industrial cities"

Although nationally the Fortune 1000 industrial companies appear to be heading into a downturn, our firm is continuing to see more manufacturing & engineering search assignments over the past year.  And now, we have a new search from an Indiana bank to hire additional Loan Documentation personnel to handle increased loan volume. It does make us wonder if the Midwest and Indiana especially is seeing a revival of it's industrial and manufacturing base.  The Economist's Schumpeter seems to…See More

The "World of Work" for your children

As a parent, I think about the "world of work" that my daughter will enter and the options that will be available to her.  The last line of this article from The walled world of work, "As economies grow more sophisticated, demand for cognitive skills will keep rising. The world’s schools are not even close to meeting it.", has me wondering if the focus on STEM really teaches people how to think.  Increasingly, IT companies are hiring Liberal Arts majors for jobs that previously would only have…See More

Profile Information

List the keywords from your work history - titles, employers, products, industry, materials used, application or use of products, and/or processes worked with?
While a significant part of our work has been in banking, investment management, and financial services, my original recruiting background in the early 1990s was in Engineering. Working in as a Polymer Industry recruiting specialist and even more specifically in molded rubber product engineering and material formulation, I gained experience in automotive manufacturing at a time when industrial automation, robotics, and Toyota Production Systems were revolutionizing American automotive manufacturing. Additionally, I either personally conducted searches or lead teams involved in recruiting projects for process controls, industrial automation, industrial sales, power generation, and then also working with service based and entrepreneurial companies. I have always enjoyed the challenge of learning a new industry, new technology, and applying a process oriented executive search methodology to each new assignment.
